QUIET SUNSET

Walking in a quiet field every evening in the South of France was the inspiration for this piece and, truly, for this entire collection.

I spent two weeks in Luynes, France with two incredible dogs at the beginning of May this year. Every night we would go set our spirits free in this expanse of nature, sky, earth, grass and all the things my soul had been craving.

At times dense with clouds and sky and light,
the earth sets itself

COLOR BLOCK ORIGINALS

Sun + Field

Fields of dark green rest below a sun-washed sky - the horizon beyond, heat-filled and strong. The orange and sienna of this middle color draw me in, almost trance-like to its profound color.

Haze + Horizon

Heat rising off the horizon, distant and ephemeral;
A dreamscape created by sun and rock and air.

Texture + Earth

That feeling of running your fingers over rocky earth, of looking out onto a bright desert sunset, of clouds just looping over the hazy horizon; these textured moments inspire my work using quick chalk lines and bold color blocks.

Terra + Type

The picture of a sunset coming off the page as your eyes follow the text of some word unknown, secret, until the moment of the mind’s discovery. My inspiration for this piece comes from that feeling of lifting words of the page into lines of colors - imagined and real like the type they transpose.

Moon + Stone

Imagine if the moon
could create a horizon made of all the cool,
calm, beautiful qualities of
a smooth gray stone, washed and formed
by a mountain’s riverbed.

Night Sky + Sea

I think of the deep blue the sky holds at night out on the water, and the reflection of the moon on the surface of the sea, scattered and united by their own immensity.
