Why Did I Paint This?

This art was inspired by the back roads that take you from New Orleans to Galveston, down the southeastern way from Port Arthur. When I lived in New Orleans and my brother lived in Galveston, I would take the back roads in my Jeep Wrangler, LeRoy. During one of those trips, I caught this magnificent sky; nowhere in the world beats the big skies of Texas.

Artist to Follow

Finally, I’d like to share my favorite artist to follow this week: Catherine Freshley. I’ve been obsessing over her bright, colorful skies, down-to-earth landscapes, and inspirational success as a modern day career-artist. Further, she seems like a real person, not some fantastical content creator on Instagram, someone I’d love to have a drink with one day.
