Abstract Commissions

Set of 6 Mountain Chalks

My latest commission was this set of 6 mountain chalks for a family here in Aix-en-Provence. There daily view of the mountain, La Sainte-Victoire, inspired them to commission an entire set for family and friends back home.

What kind of art can I commission? I loved making this set because it was non-traditional. Generally speaking, commissions are photograph based, realistic-leaning representations of a place or person. This is absolutely fine and you can and should commission whatever you like!

It is, however, possible to commission abstract or minimalist representations of your place, ideas, etc. If you’ve ever thought wow, I’d really love that as art, we can work together to make it come to life.

Artist to Follow

My favorite artist to follow this week is Laxmi Hussain. A powerful creative voice and bold minimalist artist, Laxmi’s work gives much needed space for emotion, love, and expression around the human form, especially women. Her line work has this incredible, indescribable intention that seems to only come from years of Self-work, reflection and study as an artist, woman, mother and human being. I also recently took a drawing workshop with Laxmi and was entirely blown away by her intentional line work which imbued so much emotion and power.
