"A" Paper Sizes: European Sizes for Making Art Prints

Hello Artists! This page is a guide to standard fine art print sizes in Europe/UK in “A” Paper Sizing. Certainly there are other standards, and we will cover those in other blogs! For now, this chart is to help you know how to size your print images in Standard Size “A”.

If you are unfamiliar with “A” sizing you will notice the smaller numbers coordinate with larger prints sizes, so we are going from largest to smallest here.

EUROPEAN STANDARD “A” PRINT SIZES

A0 - 841 x 1189 mm // 33.1 x 46.8 in

A1 - size594 x 841 mm // 23.4 x 33.1 in

A2 - size420 x 594 mm // 16.5 x 23.4 in

A3 - size297 x 420 mm // 11.7 x 16.5 in

A4 - size210 x 297 mm // 8.3 x 11.7 in

A5 - size148 x 210 mm // 5.8 x 8.3 in

A6 - size105 x 148 mm // 4.1 x 5.8 in

A7 - size74 x 105 mm // 2.9 x 4.1 in

The most common print sizes among these for fine art prints are A4, followed by A3 and A5.

Examples of “A4” size fine art prints

This Fine Art Giclée Print is sized A4 - the most standard. Compared to the ribbons and wide brush, you may get an idea of what size this print is. A4 prints are around the size of standard legal print paper for a normal sized printer, if that also helps!
